Non Advisory and non Digital Photography students turn in a screen shot of your grades to the QR code below. All Traveling students sign in on the Advisory Traveling In sheet. Advisory students mark an x by your name if you are staying or write in the room you are traveling to.

Each Fairfax Advisory teacher should provide a safe and stimulating environment to help their core group of students establish meaningful relationships. Teachers should also assist these students in discovering a sense of purpose in crafting more meaningful lives and creating school culture.
Advisory Breakdown Schedule:
• Monday Late Starts – No Advisory Period
• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday - Traveling
• Misc. Altered Schedules - Adjustments to Traveling during the Advisory period will be determined, case by case, when needed.
Teacher Expectations:
• Take attendance
• Track student movement (Planner, Sign-in/out, Stamping)
• Present school information (i.e. Announcements, Surveys, Altered Schedules, Upcoming Opportunities, etc.)
• Monitor behavior and academic progress (Grade Logs)
• Facilitate student opportunities and support campus programs (i.e. Campus Clubs, Sports, Community Service, College Readiness, AVID, IB, Honors, Support Groups, Request for Intervention – RFI, etc.)
Travel Procedures:
Stamping of Planner must be done in Class, PRIOR to the day of Travel.
No Stamping During Passing Period or the day of Travel.
• Teachers
‘REQUESTING’ Teacher Stamp students Planner PRIOR to the day of Travel. (teacher may make exceptions, not students) Have them sign-up on the Traveling-In Log so you have proof and can control numbers.
‘ADVISORY’ Teacher Checks for stamps when the Advisory student signs-out on Attendance Log. Do not let a student travel if they do not have a stamp.
• Advisory Students Students that TRAVEL, show their stamp and record where they are going (room # or teacher name) on the Attendance Log. Students that remain in the Advisory room, ‘X’ the Attendance Log.
• Traveling-In Students Students wanting to travel to another classroom should get stamped by that teacher PRIOR to the day of Travel and sign-up on Traveling-In Log to guarantee a spot. Student checks off name to show arrival.
• Advisory BUDDY Teachers
Your ‘Buddy’ covers your Advisory when there is no Sub available.
‘Buddy’ up with a teacher or two in close proximity to your room.
Inform your ‘Buddy’ if you know you are going to be out.
Notify your Advisory students where to go in your absence if there isn’t a sub.
Post the sign on your door that says your ‘Buddy’ Names and Room #’s.
On days where a lot of teachers are out, be flexible with stamping and accepting other students into your room.
Assessment:
• Students will receive an Advisory Grade Log for each Semester.
• Each 3-week grading period has 9 points available for students to earn.
• Points are cumulative; 54 total points per Semester.
• Advisory is .25 credit per semester.
• Final grades will be recorded as P (Pass) or NP (No Pass).
• Advisory grades are not part of “No Pass No Play”.
• Grades will not affect a student’s GPA.
Grade Book Instructions for Advisory:
• Create assignments titled with the Progress Report (i.e. 1st Progress Report)
• That assignment should have a max score of 9 and be worth 1 point.
• Add that assignment to the current grading period and future grading periods.
• Be sure to change the Final Grade Configuration to Pass / No Pass.
Connection Ideas (non-travel days):
• Mentor underclassmen (Jr & Sr for Freshman Experience)
• Current World Events (CNN Student News, etc…)
• Interactive Games (cards, board games; not video games alone on their phone!)
• Educational Computer Games (i.e. ‘Free Rice’)
• Music/Video Days - Take requests and DJ/VJ
• Create Art
• Show awareness/motivational Videos
• Study Hall
• Celebrate Birthdays
• Silent Sustained Reading
• Research Community Service Opportunities
• Club/Sport Promotion and Celebrations
• AVID Strategies
• Life Skills

If a student has TEMPORARILY misplaced their Planner, it’s not an excuse
for them to not attend tutoring. Make copies to have on hand in case you need to see a student without a Planner.
ALL Teachers must use the same Temporary Tutoring Ticket.
